Accepted for Foundations in Community Development School!!!

Below is our exciting e-mail!

Dear Vinjelu and Kathryn,
Well we are thrilled to let you know that after praying over your
applications that you are accepted to the 2007 MT FCD starting on March
26. We know this is a school that will further equip you for the
work
God has called you too.
As we mentioned before we cannot guarantee a scholarship at this time.
There are at the moment 6 worthy African applicants (including yourself
Vinjelu) asking for scholarships and we at this time just have one
available. Pray for us as school staff that God will give us wisdom
who
out of these 6 we should recommend for a scholarship.
We would encourage you to seek the Lord and good counsel to do all
that
you can in raising the necessary funds for the school. As we do the
possible God is more than able to do the impossible. Do include your
YWAM
leadership in Calgary in the process as much as possible as to
confirming
God's leading to do the FCD at this time.
Many blessings,
Arnold
PS Don't hesitate to contact us with any further questions or concerns.

So what exactly does this mean?

It means, that they are accepted into the YWAM school in Montana that they want to attend - Foundations in Community Development. As with any secondary education, application to the school is not a guarantee that you will be able to attend. The school looks at their past participation in YWAM, the community, their churches, evaluations by former and current YWAM leaders, and I don't know what else. Acceptance is very exciting.

It also means, that although Vinjelu has applied for a scholarship to the school, he is only one of 6 applicants for that scholarship so has a 1 in 6 chance of getting it.

THAT means that they likely need to raise enough money for tuition for both Vinj & Kath - about $6000 each. Usually tuition includes room and board and it also includes plane fare, etc. for the outreach portion of the school.

Their current understanding is that they can choose where to do their outreach - any YWAM base in the world. They would choose Zambia, of course, since that is the country God has put on their hearts. This would be ideal since it would give them a chance to develop relationship with the YWAM leadership there and also put them into situations that they would actually be facing in the future. Not to mention, put them in contact for a couple months with Vinj's family and friends.

in my understanding, FCD focuses on training missionaries on how to move into a community and teach/train the "natives" to develop their community. For example, drilling wells, training women in childcare, farming techniques, business development... ways to help the community become more self sufficient and healthy. As well, it is focused on being an example, a light among the people you live with.

Congratulations, Vinj & Kath! I'm excited for you! If I have given wrong or incomplete information, please correct me.

Thanx mom for explaining, I appreciate that. the school is more in depth then that... the subjects covered have to do with- appropriate technology, entering a community, world view of people groups and how that effects their culture and life style... etc(what mom said). You all will be getting information by post in the next couple weeks.

Oh, thanks for the explanation.
Congrats guys! That sounds like some great learning to assist you in your vision for Zambia...and wherever else you go.
Kath, does that mean you're not going to Sudan? Do they cross paths in date?
Congrats guys, and we'll pray that the Lord would help the leaders of that group determine the Lords' choice for the scholarship - whether it's Vinj or someone else. (although, of couse we hope they choose Vinj!)
Take care guys. Talk with you all soon.

Hey guys!!!!
That is so amazing!!! Congrats! I know that this school will be such an exciting and growing time for both of you. I can't wait to continue to hear about all you are learning in Montana! I called tonight but Art said you guys went to your parents for the weekend. I hope that you have a time of rest and rejuvenation there. Let’s talk when you get back to Calgary. Also I am in need of your mailing address, I seemed to have lost it and have something to mail to you Kathryn. Can you e-mail it to me please. Miss you both! Congratulations again! I am so very proud of you guys!

Guiding you is Him. Loving you and caring about you. His plans will work for you. Ther are many good plans, but there is only one plan that is correct. I pray, that as you two go forward, that you clearly see His plan. Time is short and we all need to see His plan so that we all have the greatest impact for the precious gospel of peace. Being out of focus means that the gospel is dormant, "temporarily not available".
